Odessa, Texas, 2012 - A desert landscape moves outside of a passenger window, country music plays over the radio, and a father concentrates on the road. As truck tires rumble over dry caliche, his four-year-old son draws pumpjacks in a sketchbook. Soon they will reach at a drill site to deliver a rotary bit.
Amarillo, Texas, 2011 - Happy, a farming community located thirty miles south of Amarillo, is a real place. The town has a quiet main street with old storefronts. Several grain elevators stand beside the railroad track. Outside of the post office, newspapers are for sale. Life centers around agriculture, church on Sunday and high school football on autumn Fridays. This place exists as an excellent snapshot of rural life on the North American Great Plains.
